Listing Description

Welcome to APASA

Apasa is the official dog shelter and re homing centre in Javea where their aim is give all stray  and unwanted dogs a new foster or forever home.
Most communities in Spain maintain a “perrera”, a dog Shelter, where strays, homeless ill-treated or merely lost dogs and cats can be cared for. There are rumours that if the animal is not claimed in 21 days, it is sacrificed. In APASA this NEVER happens.

Would you like to give an APASA dog or cat a new home for life? we call this one Charlie!!

Their goal, is to find every dog an appropriate new home. At the end of 2016 they have 280 residents. Click on Dogs for Adoption to find a suitable one for you.  They always have several Podencos, which the locals use as hunting dogs and are very often ill-treated or abandoned. They make wonderful loyal pets.
Where are we?
The shelter is in Cami de les Sorts, next to the Ecopark, click here for a map. Here we protect about 280 dogs. From here it is convenient to walk dogs. This is where you can view dogs for adoption.
Help us now!
They are largely dependent on your support. In 2015 about 500 dogs entered the Shelter, of which ¾ were returned to their owners and about 270 were adopted. The Town Hall, the Ayuntamiento, provides us with some financial support but unfortunately there are many in the Ayuntamiento who care little for a Dog Shelter.
How can you help?
• Become a member of APASA for an annual fee of 25€
• Sponsor a dog for a monthly fee of 25€
• Foster a dog in your home, with the costs covered by APASA
• Adopt a dog on a permanent basis Donations
Donations
Animal food is always welcome but must be those types that we know are suitable.
– The yellow is our basic mixed with some of the orange
– Tinned foods are good except Tandy
– The rice we use is that for humans and we add olive oil
For financial donations please ask our advice.

Visit their Charity Shop in Avenida del Pla, selling clothes and household items.
